Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Announces Retirement of Alison Herman

Ms. Herman to remain as legal consultant with the Company

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer's)—the world’s preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol—today announced the retirement of Alison Herman, Senior Counsel Regulatory & Compliance, effective September 1, 2023.

Ms. Herman's beverage alcohol career with Southern Glazer’s began in 1994 when she partnered with Southern Wine & Spirits at a legal consulting firm. She later joined the Company in 2008 as its first General Counsel. In 2016, she was appointed Senior Counsel Regulatory & Compliance and created the industry's best in class trade practice compliance department. Under her leadership, the compliance department provided its national commercial teams with training, trade practice support and successfully navigated various trade practice matters on behalf of the Company.

Following her departure from the Company, Ms. Herman will launch her own legal private practice and continue to function in a legal consulting capacity for Southern Glazer’s.

As part of this transition, the legal and compliance departments will now combine into one function and Alan Greenspan, Esq. has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. In this new role and under this new structure, Mr. Greenspan will be responsible for building upon the Company’s industry-leading compliance function, originally championed by Steven Becker, Executive Vice President and Treasurer, while immediately providing greater synergies and resources to leverage the teams’ combined legal expertise and experience. Mr. Becker will continue to advise on compliance, while retaining his responsibilities of corporate treasury, lender relations, government affairs and licensing.
